4)  Disguised At Knifepoint

      In my freshman year at University of Michigan, two friends and I decided to go to a big rock concert in Detroit. Arriving at the entrance gate, I found I was five cents short of the ticket fee, so my friend gave me a nickel.  
      After enjoying the show, we started back to the parking lot. Suddenly two men approached us, one in front and the other from behind. The man in the front held a knife to the throat of each of us, one at a time, as he demanded and took our money. Since I had no money, and realizing I was going to be the last person approached, I had a few seconds to pray. The first thing that popped into my mind was the story from 1 Samuel 21:10-14, about King David in the courts of King Achish of Gath. In order to escape the city, he decided to make King Achish think he was insane. He began babbling like a fool and scribbling on the walls. King Achish wanted nothing to do with him and sent him out of the city in a hurry.  
    My friends stood at a short distance, waiting to see what would happen to me. Both men approached me. One held a knife to me and the other demanded money. I began babbling like an idiot, acting crazy and asking them stupid questions. The men looked at each other in disbelief and said, “Let’s get out of here.” They took off running down the street. What worked for King David worked for me too!
